Robbed...AGAIN!

Yesterday Roman had his 10th month birthday and while I'm taking his picture ( because that must be done on your birthday, duh!) ...(well and everyday for that matter), Reed calls me to tell me, he thinks he's been robbed! While he's driving down the road he realizes his GPS is gone, then that his gym bag is gone! So after going through shock and retracing his steps, we came to the conclusion of where it must have happened.
Reed went to a youth ministers meeting in Dallas, so he was dressed nice. On his way back he wanted to get his haircut, so he pulled over at a random hotel to change clothes( so he wouldn't get hair all over his new xmas clothes)in the bathroom. No biggie, in and out in less than 10 mins.
Well, that's where it happened, in the hotel parking lot! They broke his lock, stole the GPS, an old wallet that had nothing important in it from the console, and his gym bag with shoes, clothes and toiletries. Apparently "these guys" have been hitting the hotels down the street too. When Reed called the hotel and told him where he parked they said that that side is the one camera that is broken, of course!
SO...this morning we have to pay $440 to get the lock on the door fixed, and Reed took his clothes to the gym in a Walmart sack!

YUCK!!!

A couple of days ago Roman decided to craw from the living room to our bedroom to our bathroom. Playing with toys along the way, ( we have them stationed in each room depending on where we are)and I followed him with my camera to get some candid shots.
-----Sidenote---- I got an awesome new camera for Christmas that I am still trying to learn about. I'm even going to class to learn about photography. I'm enjoying it alot. My new spare time is spent researching websites.
While we were in our bathroom and I saw the pretty light coming through the window, I thought, Hey! Let's dress you up and do a photo shoot. So we went upstairs to his room and changed his clothes into something much cuter. When we came back down I set him down in our bedroom, picked up a gold chair and put it in the bathroom then went back, got Roman and put him in the chair. Well, Roman was in the BEST mood! Just a smiling and playing with his toes, and I was saying Humpty Dumpty over and over to him to get him to laugh. And then he picked up his foot real high and smiled real big, and I caught the shot, with my new awesome camera...and then I saw it...something black in his mouth! So I drop the camera, very carefully, it is new, ya know! and go see what I saw and there I found a bug...a dead bug...with wings!!!! I was freaking out!!!! In the time that I put the chair in the bathroom, he found a dead bug and put it in his mouth. And the part that kills me the most is, here I thought he was loving taking pictures and my singing, nope, he had a bug he was chewing on! YUCK!!!!

Paisley inspired

I twitter, but really it's just to be nosey about celebrities and read something I do not need to remember before going to sleep. I follow Brad Paisley on Twitter, who is quite funny, and his last tweet of 09' "Tomorrow, is the first blank page of a 365 page book. Write a good one." and it got me thinking...How cool would it be if every night before going to bed, I wrote a favorite memory of the day of Roman. He should be walking and talking very soon...and obviously I'm not a consistent blogger and every mother knows it's hard to sit down and write down everything he's done and said...but if I make a habit, I think I could day by day. Well, we see how it goes. My memory from yesterday was that after he woke and I got him from upstairs and brought him to our bed to take his bottle in our bed. He drank for a while and then rolled over and crawled on top of me, moved my sleeping mask that was half over my face and planted a big kiss on my lips! Now that's how you start a new year off right!!!!

We had December this year?

Sorry, it's been a while. December has just beeen crazy for us, like it is everyone.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving, spent just over a week in Jasper which was great. Roman began reaching his arms out for people if he wants them to get him, which thrilled my parents! He also began waving while we were there. And the night we got home Roman pulled up on the furniture! So laying out Xmas cards to send, wrapping presents... Things have been a little harder and busier! We also started Roman on many more fingers foods. He loves fruit, he will whine until the next piece of fruit gets in his mouth. He is trying to talk he makes noise when he waves, so that's "hey!" and he makes a noise when you ask him what a doggie says. And when I ask what does Santa say, he kinda huffs once for a "ho ho ho". So it's real fun.I know it's terrible to be a month behind but I probably won't write til we get home from Xmas too. Merry Christmas everbody !

Movin and Groovin

I knew it was coming... I tried not to encourage it, but the day came anyway.... the day Roman finally decided he wanted something bad enough to crawl for it. And what is this item you might be asking...his favorite stuffed animal, his move and crawl ball, the tunnel that is suppose to encourage crawling...no, no, no: the tv remote! We should have known, since he was like 3 months old, he has been amazed by the remote and how it lights up and is always an arms reach away. We moved furniture yesterday because I felt this was coming real soon (I just didn't know the next morning)so we moved the coffee table out of the way so there is alot of room. I was sitting in the floor with him, b/c his favorite thing to do is have a sturdy hand to stand up with, and I had the remote to my side. Well it got in his view and off he went, 3-4 moves and it was in his hands. So after freaking out, I did what every Mom does....grab the video camera and have him do it again! This time it took pushing a button and having it light up. Next time I had to put my iphone down beside it. We have learned that he only crawls for things he really wants. So far he has crawled for: the remote, cell phone, sheet on a table, coupon junk paper that comes once a week in the mail, the string to my camera, and the computer skyping my parents! Maybe tomorrow Mommy and Daddy will make the list!

Pulling the Plug

***WARNING*** The following blog may not be suitable for all readers ***WARNING***

Ok, you've been warned! For the greater part of my life I have looked forward to nursing my child. I've always thought what a sweet, loving time I would have with my child and would just love it! Well, that's not quite how it went.
During my pregnancy, I did everything I was suppose to to prepare myself for nursing: I read books, I went to breastfeeding class, I bought nursing bras, pads, pump....I was ready, so I thought! Day 2 in the hospital, the nursing consultant informs us that since Roman was so small, his tongue was a little further back so I should wear nipple shields to help him out. (Now this was briefly mentioned in class) So, not only was I to wear these while nursing but I also was suppose to wear what I called "turtles" when I was not. So once my milk came in, these things would be filled up with milk if it was time to feed or when a baby would cry. And Roman would fall asleep the whole time feeding so it would take like 45 mins and I had to feed him every 2 hours so I barely had enough to time shower and dress before I had to nurse again. Nursing with the shields was just a mess, leaking everywhere. It got to where it would wear poor Roman out trying to get milk through them but he had gotten used to the rubber texture that skin felt weird. Finally, at 3 months I got to nurse like a normal mother. Well, I'll go ahead and tell you, by then I just wasn't a huge fan.
Also b/c Roman was small we started supplementing formula at about 2 months and cereal at 4. Then he got in a phase where he had better things to do that lay down like a baby and nurse, so I had to start pumping so he would get more than what he would sit for, except for in the morning. And now that we are on jar food too ( that's right, nursing/pumping, formula, cereal/baby food...I'm not busy at all) And somehow I started pumping less and less, and then was just nursing in the morning.
Finally I came to the decision to "pull the plug" after the Remix recovery week, just to keep his immune system up. It was bittersweet, b/c I wanted to give him the best I could for as long as I could. My original goal was 9 months but 7 1/2 isn't too bad. I hate to say I'm kinda excited to feel like I have my body back, less bottles to clean, getting fitted for a REAL bra and not having to hear that pump anymore!!!! But I will miss the times around the family when I get to take Roman in another room and have mommy/son time.
All I can hope for now is that I've done a good job with Roman and hope it's not so hard with the next child!

V I C T O R Y!!!

Roman became an official youth minister's kid this past weekend by attending his first real youth event. He's gone to bible studies and devos before but this past weekend he went to his first retreat- Remix! I had to drive my vehicle b/c of the car seat and I really should have taken a picture of it....literally filled to the brim with his stuff, and I thought of everything, and brought it too! Thankfully our whole group was in this one huge cabin and it had a "director's room" that we were able to stay in (otherwise I don't think we would have gone). It was really nice with its own bathroom, basically a little hotel room, perfect for the situation. To prepare for this excursion we began 3 weeks ago practicing taking naps in the pack n play since he hasn't slept in there for a long time and when he did, it was up top. We wanted him to really be a part of things so we made him some iron ons for a onesie to match the rest of us! Too cute!

We got there about 9ish Friday night, after hearing him scream for half of the drive (he still is not a fan of long rides in the car). We quickly found out that Roman did not like all the noise the kids made and how it echoed all over the wooden cabin. I was nervous of how he would sleep in a new place like this, but like we say "he's a champ!", he slept from 11 til 7!!!! Dude rocks! He took 2 naps later on in the day, as easy as ever to lay down and go straight to sleep. Roman also made lots of new friends with all the chaperones and the girls-chick magnet....it's those blue eyes and dimples! He was so worn out Saturday from all the fun he had from things like watching Mommy on the high ropes course(including the swinging bridge), that he was falling out at the bonfire.

I told Reed on the way to Remix that if he sleeps, does not get sick there and does not get sick from being there when we get home, then I will say it was a victory.

Our family is still all well, even after we had a girl go home from Remix with a fever, that we later found out was Swine flu....yay for hand sanitizer!......V I C T O R Y!!!!
